40 Years of Queer Theatre: The People, The Shows, The Stories
Sydney Theatre Company Artistic Director Mitchell Butel will host this panel discussion exploring the history of queer theatre in NSW. Queer story telling has been on our stages in various guises since the curtain was first drawn and has transformed over time – through the iconic plays of the 1980s and 90s exploring the AIDS epidemic to contemporary works platforming and celebrating sexuality and gender diversity in all its glory. Featuring leading arts and theatrical figures, we will reflect on how queer stories onstage have helped shape our culture and reflected our community over the last 40 years.
