Kunal’s Story

“As a queer South Asian community organiser and former chairperson of Trikone Australia, ACON has always symbolised the kind of allyship and institutional solidarity we aspire to build within our diasporic communities.

My journey with ACON began through collaborations around Pride and multicultural initiatives, but its impact runs deeper. ACON’s support has been instrumental in amplifying queer South Asian voices – particularly through initiatives like our ‘Under the Brown Rainbow’ podcast and inclusive health forums. Seeing an established organisation like ACON continuously centre marginalised communities while evolving with their needs has been both reassuring and inspiring.

ACON’s presence at events like Fair Day, and their willingness to connect with groups like Trikone, showcases what long-term, intersectional commitment can look like. As Trikone grows, ACON’s 40 years of resilience, advocacy, and community care offer us a blueprint. It’s a celebration not just of the past, but of what’s possible when we centre love and equity in our work.

Thank you, ACON, for paving the way.”
